Here are some of the major themes of the philosophy of all time: that is to elucidate the act of knowing, which is the essence of knowledge, which is the cognitive relation between man and things around him. Although it's a daily operation there is no agreement about what happens when we know something. The simplest definition tells us that knowing is to obtain information about an object. To know is to get a point or a story about something. Knowledge is that news or information about that object.
The theory of knowledge is a philosophical doctrine. To clarify its position in the whole philosophy is, it must appear before an essential definition of this.
An essential definition of philosophy could be obtained taking the meaning of the word. The term philosophy comes from Greek and means love of wisdom or, which is the same, I know, know. You can feel that you can not obtain a definition of philosophy essential, therefore, necessarily must employ another method.
For example the definition of philosophy that Plato and Aristotle presented as pure science, are respectively the pursuit of virtue or happiness.
As Dilthey says: ¨ The first thing to try is to find a common objective content on all those systems whose view is constituted by all those systems of philosophy. "
These systems are those of Plato and Aristotle, Descartes and Leibniz, Kant and Hegel as in all of them find an inclination on the universality, guidance in all such objective: being, essence, knowledge.
At the beginning of the modern age we return to the ways of the Aristotelian concept (center is a universal science of being). The systems of Descartes, Spinoza and Leibniz, have the same orientation that characterizes Aristotle as all tend to the knowledge of the objective world. Kant on the contrary revives the Platonic style (try elevating life with all its philosophical concepts to consciousness). |
